Dear Students,
Welcome back! I hope you have had a chance to enjoy your summer and are ready to start the school year. My name is Miss Silberzweig (Miss S) and I am thrilled to be your 2nd grade teacher! You and I will spend a great deal of time together in the upcoming school year and because of this I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about what we’ll be learning about in 2nd grade…
This school year will be filled with lots of learning and new adventures! Get ready to learn more about authors, vowel teams, contractions, compound words, parts of speech, addition, subtraction, graphs, money, time, measurement, fractions, place value, the Grace Vernal Pool, dinosaurs and fossils, owls, continents, poetry, non-fiction writing, book publishing, and much, much more!
I cannot wait to learn more about you, your interests, and hopes for the school year but first here’s a little about me…

Favorite Season…Summer (it’s my birthday season and I love the warm weather)
Favorite Sports Team…Boston Celtics (Rondo is my favorite player)
Favorite Book…Charlotte’s Web (my second grade teacher first introduced this story to me)
Favorite Animal…Pugs (I used to have a black pug named Otis)
